Artigianato

Craftsmanship It is necessary to read (click on the nearby illustration) the notes on this particular fountain carved in granite. Today they make them (maybe!) out of cement, which, after a few years, cracks, crusts, and gets soiled, yes…the chosen remedy to cover up such horrible features with stone does not do much to help matters. But who needs fountains in the squares? The washing is done (in the real sense!) in the home. Women chatter on the telephone. The barns have running water for cattle. And the children, of an evening, no longer go to play “hide and seek” in the square around the fountain. However…what has this fountain to do with the theme of craftsmanship? This fountain is an excellent example of age-old craftsmanship when one worked with gusto and precision to produce something good, useful and durable! There is still even now an “ogolino” that is useful with his hands! Take a look below at some (of the many already produced) recent “creations” of theirs.
